Overview

Welcome to Chively. This guide walks you through the steps to get your POS system set up and ready to take orders. The whole process typically takes under an hour for a single-station setup.

What you'll need

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • Your Chively hardware (SUNMI device or compatible Android tablet)
  • Your Chively account credentials (emailed after signup)
  • A stable Wi-Fi connection
  • Your menu ready in a spreadsheet or document

Step 1 - Download the Chively app

Open the Google Play Store on your device and search for Chively POS. Install the app, then launch it and sign in with your account credentials.

Step 2 - Connect to your network

Chively requires an internet connection during initial setup. Connect your device to your restaurant's Wi-Fi network before proceeding. Once your initial configuration is complete, Chively can operate in offline mode if the connection drops during service.

Step 3 - Configure your location

After signing in, you'll be prompted to select or create a location. Enter your restaurant name, address, and time zone. These details appear on printed receipts.

Step 4 - Build your menu

Navigate to Menu -> Items and begin adding your menu items. For each item you can set:

  • Name and description
  • Price
  • Category (e.g. Appetizers, Mains, Drinks)
  • Modifiers (e.g. size, temperature, add-ons)
  • Kitchen routing (which station receives the ticket)

Tip: You can also import a menu in bulk using a CSV file. Contact support for the import template.

Step 5 - Set up your staff

Go to Staff -> Add Employee to create accounts for your team. Assign roles (Server, Manager, Admin) to control what each employee can see and do.

Step 6 - Test an order

Before going live, run a test transaction end-to-end:

  1. Open a new order
  2. Add items to the ticket
  3. Send to kitchen (if KDS is connected)
  4. Process a payment using the test card mode

Once you're satisfied, you're ready to go live.
