Before you begin
- Clean scanner lens with a soft, dry cloth.
- Confirm scanner power and host connection are stable.
- Keep test labels in both 1D and 2D formats.
Steps
- Verify scanner cable, cradle, or wireless pairing status.
- Test a known-good barcode and QR code at standard scanning distance.
- Adjust angle slightly to reduce reflection from glossy labels or phone screens.
- Increase screen brightness when scanning mobile QR codes.
- Confirm scan engine is configured for required symbologies.
- Test with damaged or low-contrast labels to check sensitivity limits.
- Restart scanner and host device, then retest with known-good codes.
- If read failures persist, update scanner firmware or replace the scan engine module.
